CHRISTUS St. Vincent is a community-based, private, not-for-profit hospital serving more than 300,000 people in seven counties in northern New Mexico. CHRISTUS St. Vincent was founded in 1865 by the Sisters of Charity and is New Mexico's first hospital and the largest private employer in Santa Fe.
Currently 18 physicians comprise our 24/7 adult hospitalist practice, including 2 full time nocturnists and ICU coverage. Shifts are predominantly 12 hours in length for day shift and 10 hours for nights. See an average of 15 patients per day with a cap at 19.

Physician provides medical services in the general care and treatment of patients in both practice and hospital settings. Provides comprehensive medical services for patients on a continuing basis. Examines patients, using medical instruments and equipment. Elicits and records information about patients' medical history. Orders or executes various tests to provide information on patient's condition. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination, and diagnoses condition of patient. Administers or prescribes treatments and medications Promotes health by advising patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods of prevention of disease. Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize patients from communicable diseases. Performs surgical procedures commensurate with surgical competency. Refers patients to specialist for consultant services when necessary for the patient's well-being. Physician works collaboratively and cooperatively with peer providers, and within the organization.
Provides care to patients and assigns appropriate aspects of care to non-physician staff that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of health. Based on diagnosis and evaluation of the patient, plans and carries out plan for treatment/therapy, informing and educating the patient, making referrals for specialized treatment and following up on progress.
Fulfills all requirements as detailed in the Employment Contract.
Completes all charts and dictation (if applicable) on the day of visit assuring completeness and accuracy. Each chart will contain; problem list (by third visit), medication list, and progress notes following a problem oriented format.
Is responsible for comprehensive and accurate coding of each patient encounter submitted the day of encounter.
Participates as directed in network quality improvement projects/pilots and agrees to follow its protocols and directives. This also includes approved operational and business related functions/tools at the practice.
Participates in continuing professional education to keep his/her medical knowledge and professional competence at a level determined by the Chief Medical Officer and in accordance with credentialing guidelines and policies.
Represents the organization in the local and broader community, participating in educational and other medically oriented programs for the public and patients.

Medical School graduate with a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree from an approved medical school, or possession of Standard Certificates as issued by the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
Possesses an active, unrestricted medical license in the state(s) of practice as issued by the medical licensing authority of that state. Maintains all relevant licensure commensurate with his/her professional responsibilities.
